The NJVN/NJ VFW hosted a Veterans Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle family day!
The team had a video game tournament on a 20 foot screen for kids and one for the adults. Winners received hoverboards, a tablet and an Alexa Echo!
We had 23 veterans choose between 4 local pizzerias for their favorite pizza!. The winner was Grumpy’s Pizza in Saddle brook.
Veterans were given new jackets, toiletries, and toys for their children!
Therapy dogs Shadow and Beethoven of the Operation K9 Beethoven team brought joy to everyone!

We love veteran families so much that we recently gave out Christmas toys outside in the rain! We gave away two vans full of toys to 5 organizations and veteran families who came to pick up.
We loaded up cars and handed out toys in the rain happily. We have some great volunteers and I’m very proud of them.

A true example of selfless service. When we held our Thanksgiving turkey dinner give away for veterans, we needed some more muscle. Although Marine veteran Sal Greenewas was not planning on staying long , but he did. Running around all over the place and helping out when things got tough.
He carried turkey meals out to veterans cars who were unable to, organized meals and doing a lot of the muscle work.
So my teammate Ben, Shadow and I stopped by William Paterson University to give this awesome young marine a certificate of appreciation from our New Jersey Veterans Network team! On behalf of Grunt Style Ben gave Sal some awesome gifts! We need more more people like Sal in this world and we wanted to make sure he felt appreciated!

We got to visit and honor a 93 year old Korean War veteran and boy were we in for a surprise! Shadow, Ranger Almanzar and NJVN Vice President Doc Schupp visited 93 year old William Huhn!
We presented him with a NJVN Hero Award and a VFW Commendation signed by awesome NJ VFW commander Jay Boxwell! We also presented him with some sponsored gifts from Grunt STyle Foundation, a beautiful flag made by Ranger Alamanzars daughter, Val, and awesome subs from Taste of Italia EP!
We enjoyed hearing this American hero’s stories and were susprised to realize that we were all from the same Infantry Division! Since we were all part of the 3rd Infantry Division, Almanazar and I bonded quickly with our fellow Dog Faced soldier (thats what 3rd ID calls its soldiers) and really enjoyed out visit with him.
William Huhn and his generation inspired soldiers like us and it was truly an honor just getting to hear him speak. We look forward to more visits.

After speaking to Kean University’s Veteran Services admin, our Outreach Director Doc Schupp and our team mascot, Shadow received a laptop donation from Marine Rich Musicant! Our NJVN and State VFW team put together a huge and awesome event for our NJ Army National Guard! Outreach Director Doc Schupp worked for weeks to create an event with tons of food, games and prizes.
The Batman, the CC Roots Band, DJ Frank Djdocbear Gadson and the comedy of James Mac all participated on this special day. Shadow, America’s pup, was there making a ton of friends too!
Awesome partners such as Amazon.com and Grunt Style Foundation joined Catholic Charities, The Vet Center, the Branchburg Rotary Club and some awesome volunteers to do this event for a large amount of our soldiers.
We played games like military trivia and push up contests where we gave away prizes such as Amazon HD tablets and Gruntstyle gift certificates!

Grunt Style Foundation showed some support to our NJ Veterans! They donated awesome Grunt Style merchandise to give to veterans at events our New Jersey Veterans Network hosts and are involved in!
We gave away some t-shirts to veteran students at the William Paterson University Office of Veteran & Military Affairs and some at the recent Fair Lawn Veterans Affairs Veteran event! Great Veteran Supporters such as AJ Luna, Ashlee Luther, Alan Krutchkoff and Michael D. Boll were wearing the t-shirts as well!

The NJVN/State VFW team delivered food and groceries to Veterans throughout Bergen County. We teamed up: Strangers Helping Strangers.
At the Hanaim church in Elmwood Park, Event Organizer/Outreach Director Francisco Doc Schupp , Nira Ungar, Maggie Wolarik Stoddard (Yoga Veterans Project) and Sergeant First Class Homero Almanazar loaded up our SUVs with food and groceries provided by SHS and the Branchburg Rotary Club. We delivered the foods to Vets throughout the county.

A few dozen vets enjoyed grilled food, our portable pool table, giant size video games, a movie and a visit from our team Mascot and Therapy Dog Shadow America’s Pup! Everyone had a good time and pitched in! A good time was had by all!

This year’s Touch a Truck did not disappoint anyone that entered the arena. There were so many displays available for the kids to enjoy and interact with and a number of added attractions to assure that any child attending had an exciting day ahead of them. Winds prevented the hot air balloon from being tethered, but kids had the opportunity to hop in a basket and activate the burner as they learned how heat makes the balloon rise. As always, the hay rides never stopped and filled to capacity each time it did its route – we could say the same about this year’s added attraction of a ride on the back of a deuce army transport truck! Food was plentiful, the music was good and the weather was more than comfortable throughout the day…
The New Jersey Veteran Network and The Rotary Club of Branchburg THANKS THANKS THANKS to Central Jersey Regional Airport and TriState Aviation and everyone that offered their equipment, vehicles, food, music, golf carts, ambulance (first aid service), the bus, the cooks, all the helpers setting up and breaking down tables and chairs and all the volunteers that monitored our displays and delivered food to be sure everyone was safe and having fun throughout the day – we could not have had the success this day delivered without everyone’s commitment to our fundraising dedicated to our veterans and active military.. Thank you for attending and we hope to see you again next year!

We hosted an awesome veteran appreciation event at Mendham High School!
First, we had District 25 Asw Aura Dunn and Afghanistan/Iraq combat veteran, SFC Delgado speak to the seniors and underclassmen.
Then the main speaker, Afghanistan/Iraq combat wounded veteran, Maj Chris Carbone, spoke about his traumatic and emotional struggle about being severely wounded and how he overcame some major obstacles.

The team marched in the Twp of Union’s Memorial Day Parade. Teammate Major General Edward Chrystal Jr was the Grand Marshall!
After the parade, the team met with teammate and Assemblywoman, Michele Ruiu Matsikoudis, and the New Providence Township Committee at the New Providence American Legion for the Memorial Day Ceremony!
Asw Matsikoudis honored the team with a State Proclamation from District 21: Sen Jon Bramnick, Asw Nancy Munoz and Asw Matsikoudis!
Flags were flown over the Capital in the team’s honor. The proclamations and flags were for the team’s outstanding work during the pandemic!

We were invited to testify in front of the NJ Senate Military and Veterans Affairs Committee about the current Veterans Mental Health situation
It was an honor to be able to share our charity’s mission with our state legislatures!
Our team’s Outreach Director, Francisco Doc Schupp, did an amazing job explaining how we are able to help veterans cope with the difficulties and challenges they deal with.
Our team’s legislative Officer, Will Sheehan, also spoke about providing health care to veterans suffering from PTSD, TBI, and Sexual Trauma.

The NJVN team completed its “Ukrainian Humanitarian” mission!
Nearly 2000 discontinued uniforms, 200 plus combat boots, 200 plus backpacks, 4 body armor and other miscellaneous military gear were delivered to the Saint John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church.
In the next few days, all of the items will be escorted and hand delivered to the Ukrainian forces!
