5-8-19  Thank you to Efrat Lamandre of EG Healthcare for a very generous donation in order to help a veteran in need. When we asked for a shoe donation to help a vet, she immediately stepped forward to help with a very generous Foot Locker gift card. The veteran and our team all both veterans and appreciative your support! We’re very happy to continue being able to help people together just like we used to when we worked the ER together (Doc Schupp – Director of Outreach Services).

5-8-19  On behalf of the NJVN, I would like to say goodbye to our beloved teammate, SPC Anthony Steitz. Anthony was a beloved figure in the community and was committed to help countless people in need. Anthony was a true leader who always put others first! This young man was not only a role model but a hero to our country. We love the entire Steitz family and promise to always keep his amazing legacy alive! We already started the SPC Anthony Steitz scholarship and disabled veterans fund.

NJVN Accomplishment
5-8-19  We had the privilege of speaking to numerous East Orange families at Newark Fire Captain/Councilmen Mustafa Bren’ts meet and greet! Our team spoke about how volunteers can help our disabled veterans and what resources are available to the community. Mrs Duffy spoke about losing her son after his return from fighting with the Marines in Afghanistan. It took a lot of courage to speak and Mrs Duffy explained how important it is to be there for a family in need during those initial days! Also, Mrs Duffy spoke about the importance of giving back by helping other families cope with the loss of a loved one!

Mustafa Brent is looking to build veteran housing in the city and help our veterans live a better way of life! Assemblywomen Britnee Timberlake also spoke at this meeting. She wants to meet with our team and pledged to help us grow in the state of New Jersey. It was a great community event and we were excited to be able to speak to wonderful people from the East Orange community! Thanks to our sponsor Burnet BBQ for hosting another great event!

5-6-19   We fed and provided business suits for disabled veterans from Operation Valor, Lyons VA, and Veterans Haven North! The food was provided by Burnet BBQ and the suits were collected during our clothing drive!
This event could not have been possible without the assistance from VSO Dennis Duddie, Freeholder Sergio Granados, Kara Schuhmacher Nistorenko, Doc Schupp, Edward Chrystal Jr, Wali Rasheed, Steven Marcus, the Union County Islamic Center and Temple Sha’arey Shalom-Reform Synagogue!

4-27-19   Benner’s Auto, Geico and my friend/teammate Joe O’Neill provided Marine Veteran Gerrek Marasigan a new Hyundai car! Gerrek was referred to us by the Veterans of New Jersey Facebook Page! Benner’s Auto had been responsible for donating numerous cars to disabled veteran. Our uniformed men and women are lucky to have caring men like Joe in their lives!

4-27-19   We assisted with the Morris County College Abilities Expo presented by the Athletes with Disabilities Network and friend/teammate Brandon C. Holiday! What an incredible event and so many people were able to see what resources are available for our disabled first responders/veterans and families! Thank you Orlando Miranda for bringing the 8 National Guardsmen!

4-24-19   The Mendham High School’s students/staff and Mendham Boro PBA #384 gave us a $1000.00 check! This donation will send a New Jersey disabled veteran to PTSD Camp Patriot! 4-19-19   NJVN team members, Union County Freeholder Sergio Granados and Union Police Officer Mike Loguidice, were invited to speak at the Union County Islamic Center! We spoke to the congregation about the Muslim community helping our disabled veterans and the county will do whatever they can to help our Muslim friends feel safe in the community. For over four years, this center and our team’s chaplain Dr Rasheed has helped our veterans live better lives!

4-14-19   Today, Brian Flynn owner of Jim Dandy BBQ fed the team and disabled veterans from Operation Valor! We are thrilled that Brian joined the team and agreed to participate in our “Feed the Hero” program!

4-6-19   The Operation Rebound Racing Team teamed up with veterans from Kean University and Montclair University to play paintball! It was great working with veterans from all over the state and doing what we do best! Thanks to Doc Schupp and Jonathan Vasquez for setting up this amazing event! We finished our business attire and electronics drive! We collected over a thousand suits, pants, skirts, dress shirts/pants, womens sweaters/ blouses, and misc business attire accessories! We are blessed to have so many people donate new and used clothing for our disabled veterans! We would like to thank everyone who volunteered and donated their clothing!

NJVN has been working closely with friends at the Camp Patriot Veteran Ranch for the past 3 years. Camp Patriot is a non-profit organization which takes wounded American Veterans on outdoor adventures. We were able to send numerous, disabled NJ veterans! This camp recharges and motivates our veterans back into society. NJVN is thrilled to work with this amazing group and will continue to send our Jersey veterans there for this life changing experience!

NJVN would like to thank the Union Jr. ROTC for emptying out our trailer of business attire! These cadets have always been there for us and the township of Union is lucky to have this outstanding group! We were fortunate to get these amazing Jr. troops AMC movie passes for all of their hard work!

The team sent 50 sandwiches and soups from Burnet Bbq to our friends at Project Kind! Project Kind distributed the food to several homeless veterans and others at Penn Station in Newark, NJ! Thank you Project Kind for helping so many people on a daily basis!

We had the privilege to attend a private screening of “War Heroes” Every Soldier Has A Story tv series! This show is hosted by former Army Ranger Kris Paronto, who also writes for The Blue Magazine! He invited us and is currently working with our teammate, Brandon C. Holiday on some great projects! We also met the Doltz family and saw their son/brother Ryan being honored!
